On January 18, 2017, at Royal Inland Hospital, Doreen Stittle, mom, closed her eyes and gently gave her last breath. This world has lost a beautiful soul, but rest assured that elsewhere a grand reunion is taking place.

Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband Wilfred Stittle and their 1st born child Lydian, her parents Earl and Lillian Eckhart, her sisters Merle Donchi and Blanche (Don) McKenzie and her brother Billy.

Family remaining here to fondly remember her, are sons Lyle (Joanne) Stittle, Les (Carmel) Stittle and Len (Deb) Stittle and daughter Lorann (Dan) Makortoff. Also missing her greatly are her grandchildren Lindsay (Mike), Lisa (Doug), Lee, Jesse (Tessa), Jaret, Cole (Holly-Rose), Tyler (Melinda), Rylan, Drew (Michelle) and Dustyn; great-grandchildren Theron, Logan, Lochlan, Kelton, Kenzie, Abbey, Emilee and Aurora. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Darell (Marie) Eckhart, Lorne (Cathy) Eckhart, Bruce (Sharon) Eckhart, brother-in-law Bernard Donchi, sister-in-law Betty Petersen, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Doreen was born May 15, 1931 in Willowbrook, Saskatchewan. She came out to BC with her family and settled in Heffley Creek. She met her love and married Wilfred (Bob) on July 12, 1952. They resided in Heffley Creek and raised their family. Doreen was a member of the Ladies Social Club. Bob and Doreen were life time members of the HCCC and OAP Club. They contributed many hours helping and volunteering at the Heffley Creek Hall.

All the family would like to extend a big thank you to the staff at RlH 3 West , Dr. Ben Anders and Tammy for all your help with mom. Doreen wanted to thank the staff at The Hamlets at Westsyde. This was her home for the last six years, thank you for keeping her comfortable and safe.

A Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Maione officiating.
